May 2002

Several new features have been incorporated into CCHRS that are intended to make it an even more compelling tool for the Criminal Justice community.

First and foremost is the new email based notification system. Whenever you put an individual under investigation you have the option of being notified whenever a 'CCHRS Event' occurs.  The events that will trigger a notification may be tailored specifically to meet your needs.

Another new feature is the ability to request an update of the CCHRS database with a subjects State of California Criminal History.

Finally, the registration portion of the CCHRS Rapsheet has several new fields pertaining to an individuals biometric and mental health information.

For more detail on these new features, please read on.

 Email Notification

 Implemented: May 2002

Q: What do I need to do in the system to set myself up to receive emails from CCHRS?
A: Go to User Preferences and press the email button.  This will display the screen named "CCHRS Communication Preferences". Here you can enter in your email, phone, fax numbers, and CCHRS events that you want to be notified on (see below).

Whenever you decide to put a new subject under investigation, the values entered on the Communication Preferences screen will be your default values.

If you already have subjects under investigation and want to apply your communication setup to them, then under the investigation menu select 'Maintenance'.  The screen named "Subjects Under Investigation: eMail Management" will appear. There you will be provided a means of changing email addresses for all of your subjects under investigation.

Q: I'm going on vacation. Is there any way to have my notifications go to another email address?
A: Yes there is.  Under the investigation menu select the 'Maintenance' option.  There you may change the email address that a notification is sent to when you are gone.  This should not be construed as a 'transfer'.  These subjects still 'belong' to you.

The maintenance screen is displayed below.

Q: What will my email notification look like?
A: The Subject header in the email will be "CCHRS Notification" and the sender will be CCHRS@co.la.ca.us. The email will look similar to the one displayed below.
